Thoughts on Mac

Well I’ve been using Mac for nearly a week now and I’m very impressed.

Overall, the smoothness and ability of the OS is unparrallelled. It is a little tricky when installing programs as it’s not as straight-forward as Windows, but maybe that’s because I’m conditioned to them!!

The battery life of this iBook is phenomenal! I can’t get over how good it is. Even with a software update, multiple re-starts, downloads and installs, along with over 2 hours of use I still had about 70% of battery!

It’s a cool laptop. Fair enough, the spec isn’t quite what I expected but it’s still great. It’s a great learning experience though because I know well that if I did actually invest (and invest is the correct word considering their price and speculative value) in a PowerBook or an iMac I wouldn’t be let down.

Overall, if you’re tired of Windows, get yourself an old Mac and see if it’s worth the change! Just have patience in the beginning. The only quam that I have is the lack of available programs for the mac. To be honest, for what I need a portable computer (i.e. graphic design and web development) I need a higher resolution screen for space and viewing. Along with a large hard drive as I have a considerable 20GB load of music!

Mac is cool! iBooks are great! Windows is losing out!
