LIVE 8

Watching the concerts around the world today made me realise the scale of involvement in this great cause.

So very different from the past concerts in Wembley and Philidelphia, today’s Live 8 concerts sported new and fresh bands, which didn’t always make for great atmosphere for the millions of Irish people destined not to be at the concert in Hyde Park because of our exclusion from the ticket lottery.

The old Live Aid was truly remarkable. People were there, they wore what they had, the sung like legends and they made history. While no one doubts the cause was as great today as it was then, legends featured very little on the stages around the world with the exceptions of U2, Paul McCartney and Madonna.

But the cause was fundamentally the reason why all of us joined the world in rejoicing at the brilliant achievements of Sir Bob.

Excellent!
